Rural Gites in Loire Valley

 Previous U.K. guest comment:

This is the seventh time we've stayed in France and can honestly say that "The Old Walnut Mill" is the best equipped and most comfortable house we have
come across so far. Extremely relaxing and a superb point from which to discover the treasures of the Loire Valley and surrounding areas. Many thanks to Jim and Pauline for putting in the extra effort to ensure that this cottage is a real home from home. The Grainger

Previous Canadian guests comments:

"We've come a long way from the west coast of Canada to visit the Loire Valley and sample it's secrets- every step of the journey has been worth it. It's been a whirlwind of touring, an overload to all our senses, but this beautiful little "pièd à terre" has helped to keep us sane, with feet still on the ground for the most part. The Old Walnut Mill will always be a tremendously fond memory.

Previous Australian guests comments:

When we entered the courtyard our first reaction was "wow", and the interior of the Old Walnut Mill was even more spacious and character filled than we had expected. We felt relaxed and at home straight away and enjoyed exploring the areas attractions from this charming base. Everything is provided and our stay was so enjoyable we did not want to leave.

“Le Vieux Moulin de Noix”

Delightful 19th Century Loire Valley house(gite) to rent in the peaceful village of Barrou in the department of Indre-et -Loire, France. The village’s location halfway between the regional capitals of Tours and Poitiers makes it an ideal base to explore the Loire Valley, its many chateaux and the department of Vienne. Plus you can visit the theme parks of Futuroscope and Grande Parc du Fou which are great for kids young and old! Only 10 minutes away is the pretty spa town of La Roche Posay with its Casino, racecourse and golf course .Within 1 hour of the house you also have the beautiful sandy beaches of the St. Cyr Leisure Parc and  Bellebouche within La Brenne Natural Parc--so there is no need to drive to the coast!

There are many gites to rent in the Loire Valley but this Loire Valley house, a complete family home, gives you spacious accommodation and with its history, originally it was a mill for producing walnut oil, beamed ceilings and tiled floors retains its French charm. Accommodation consists of a large lounge, kitchen/diner two double bedrooms, the master with en-suite. There is a second toilet and shower room off the lounge. There is a large enclosed sunny courtyard for alfresco dining and sun bathing.  Barrou itself has a restaurant/bar, boulangerie (baker) boucherie (butcher) and épicier (grocer) all within walking distance of the house. There is a boulodrome in the centre of the village for ‘Petanque (boules).

The spacious lounge in this Loire Valley holiday home has two sofas and provides a relaxing room to watch tv/dvd/video or listen to music, or to take some light relief from the hot summer sun. In the colder months there is a wood burning stove for your comfort.

There is a good supply of reading and viewing material available as well as an excellent selection of board games for your use. When you will find time to take advantage of these is entirely up to you as you will not have enough for all you’ll want to do during your Loire Valley Experience.
