-Loire, France. The village’s location halfway between the regional capitals of Tours and Poitiers makes it an ideal base to explore the Loire Valley,
its many chateaux and pretty villages as well as the
department of Vienne where you can visit the theme park of
Futuroscope. The
nearest chateaux at Le Guerche and Le Grand
Pressigny are only minutes away.

There are many gites and self
catering properties to
rent in France but this Loire Valley
house, all you see - is a complete family home,
giving you spacious
accommodation - and with its history, originally it
was a mill for producing walnut oil, beamed ceilings
and tiled floors retains its French charm. It is
private and self-contained in its own courtyard.
Accommodation consists of a large lounge,
kitchen/diner, two double bedrooms, the master with
en-suite. There is a second toilet and shower-room.

The spacious lounge in this Loire Valley holiday home
has two sofas and provides a relaxing room to watch
TV (UK & French) or dvd/video or listen to music, or to take some light relief from the hot summer sun.
In the cooler months there is a wood burning stove
for your comfort.

There is a good supply of books and DVDs available as well as an
excellent selection of board games and music CDs for your use.

When
you will find time to take advantage of these is entirely up to you as you will not have enough for all
you’ll want to do during your Loire Valley
experience.

The kitchen/diner is well equipped
with fridge/freezer, oven, hob, microwave and grill, to allow you to serve up some of the local fare should you wish to eat in after a busy day touring the delights of the Loire Valley. The table comfortably seats six.
The
large,(5mtrx4mtr) light and airy master bedroom has a
king-size bed and plenty of hanging and drawer space. There is an en-suite bathroom with shower
over bath plus a separate w.c.. A hairdryer is provided. The room
also has its own access to the courtyard below.

The second bedroom with its beamed ceiling and tiled floor is also well proportioned with a double bed.
An additional single folding bed can be used if required. Drawer and hanging space is provided.
There is a large enclosed courtyard
which is ideal for soaking up the Loire Valley
sunshine and for alfresco dining.

Your car
can be parked in the courtyard for unloading and
garaged in our large barn if desired -although there is also a safe car-park minutes away from the house.

Barrou itself has a
restaurant/bar, boulangerie (baker) boucherie (butcher) and épicier (grocer) all within walking distance of the house. There is a boulodrome in the centre of the village for ‘Petanque (boules).
The
restaurant is typical of small villages of the region in
that it is also has a separate bar area where the locals
meet over coffee or a glass of wine to discuss the
events of the day. It serves traditional fare at good
prices and is a good place to join the locals
for lunch
- you will not be disappointed.

Only 10 minutes away is
the pretty spa town of La Roche Posay
with its Casino, racecourse and golf course.

There
is also live music every Saturday night in Paulmy
only 15km away. The 'Bar de l'Union' is a popular
venue for 'blues' bands plus the usual mix of 60's
rock & pop.

Within
45 mins of the house you also have the
beautiful sandy beaches of the
St.Cyr Leisure Parc.
and Bellebouche within La Brenne Natural Parc--
also ideal for walking and bird-watching-- so there is no need to drive to the coast!
